Purpose
Our purpose is to provide a loving, Christian environment in which
each child can grow and develop socially, mentally, physically, emotionally,
and spiritually.
Objectives
- To develop a wholesome attitude toward work, play, people, property,
learning and self.
- To develop an acceptable behavior pattern toward others and
to be a part of the group.
- To develop an appreciation of the value of beauty, truth, and
the love of God.
- To encourage creative expression through art, music, stories
and group play.
- To develop independent thinking and problem solving.
Curriculum
Our base curriculum is WEE Learn (Weekday Early Education materials).
These materials provide a range of age appropriate, learning centered
activities which help to develop the "whole child". Each
week has a specific unit of study which our teachers use as a guide.
Additional learning and seasonal activities are added to enhance learning.
This includes the "Handwriting Without Tears" for our Pre-K
classes. The Kindergarten class uses the Cobb County Handwriting curriculum.
Meaningful learning for young children involves active participation and the children are given opportunities to choose activities in areas of art, blocks, books, puzzles, nature, homeliving, and music. Each center is carefully planned to stimulate growth through the use of inviting materials, appropriate for the age of the child.
Large group activities include songs, stories, Bible thoughts, conversation, and sharing time. Children learn to listen, take turns and participate in a group.
Chapel is held weekly for Kindergarten and Pre-K classes beginning in October. Three Year Classes begin Chapel in December. Children learn to participate in corporate worship through singing, Bible stories and prayer.
Schedule
The Weekday Preschool year begins in late August and ends in May.
Classes meet from 9am until 1 pm. The Kindergarten class meets from
9 am until 2 pm. Classes are for ages two-six and we also have Parent's
Morning Out for one year olds. We are closed anytime Cobb County Schools
are closed for any reason. For more information, call Cindi White
at 770-435-3549.
Faculty
Our faculty is outstanding. Each teacher has special training in early
childhood education and experience in working with preschool children.
All teachers are certified in CPR and First Aid.
Teaching based on love gives the child a better understanding of himself/herself and greater love and respect for others.
Our teachers share a love for preschoolers and are committed to teach each child according to his/her needs. Two teachers are in every classroom at all times, giving more time for individual attention.
Special Information
A parent's meeting is scheduled prior to the opening of school. Several
special programs/meetings are scheduled throughout the year. These
will be listed in our Parent Handbook.
