Our Purpose:
Through sports, the First Baptist Church of Smyrna Upward Sports Ministry will promote salvation, character and self-esteem in every child. Upward desires to change generations globally and recognize that Every Child Is A Winner. This Sports Ministry Brick Campaign will ensure that children's needs are met in terms of their physical, mental and spiritual growth. Your contribution to this ministry will have a lasting effect on the children in our community, and will be showcased in a tangible and enduring manner through the purchase and installation of engraved bricks.

Frequently Asked Questions (Specific to Bricks):

1. Where will the bricks be placed? ANS: At the entrance to our field called ‘The Rock’, which is located next to the engraved stone. Also, the bricks will be placed in a court yard to be located under the big oak tree in the back corner of the parking lot. Rendering gives the visual locations.

2. Where are the renderings? ANS: Upward field and at FBC’s vestibule, Grand Central and Welcome Center.

3. When will the bricks be placed? ANS: Typically, near the end of each sports season and prior to Christmas.

4. Where does the money go? ANS: Directly into the Upward account which will be used to offset the costs spent by FBC to start and maintain the ministry as well as our field renovations. Long term we wish to make additional improvements to the field with construction of additional bathrooms and a concession stand.

5. How do I purchase a brick? ANS:
a. Mail the forms or drop off form at church.
b. On-line at smyrnafirst.org
c. Concession stand at the ROCK during practices or games

6. How many bricks can I purchase? ANS: One or as many as you like.

7. Where can I get an order form? ANS: At each rendering at FBC, in the church office, on-line at SmrynaFirst.org or at the concession stand.

8. Can I make copies of the order form? ANS: Yes

9. How do I purchase more than one brick? ANS: Please place each brick order on a separate order form. If you purchase three bricks, you will need to fill out three forms.

10. What size are the bricks? ANS: 8” x 4” and 8” x 8”

11. What color are the bricks? ANS: We will have three complementary colors mixed randomly in the walkway. Each batch of brick made has a little different color. We were concerned that if we stayed with one color, the difference in batch colors would not give us the look we wanted.

12. How many letters can be placed on the brick? ANS: 14 letters per line (spaces not included). The 4x8 brick can have 3 lines and the 8x8 brick can have 4 lines.

13. How many letters can be placed on the benches? ANS: 28 letters per line (spaced not included) and up to 5 lines of text.

14. Will my multiple bricks be placed together? ANS: Yes, upon request.  Otherwise, they will be placed at random based on color and size.

15. How will I know my on-line order was accepted? ANS: You can print a receipt and you will receive a letter confirming your order. Typically, the website will be checked every 6 to 8 weeks.

16. How will I know my order was received? ANS: Typically, you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail within six to eight weeks of your order.

17. How will I know where my brick is located? ANS: After your brick is placed, you will receive a letter. See the link above to help you locate your brick.

18. What are the benches? ANS: We are also offering granite benches to be placed around the field and in the future courtyard. The benches will have a polished seat and can also be engraved.

1. What sports will be played? ANS: Basketball, Flag Football and Softball.
2. Is his a year round ministry? ANS: Yes, football in the fall, basketball in the winter and softball in the spring.
3. What are the age groups? ANS: 1St grade – 8th grade for football and basketball. Softball – to be determined.
4. How many kids are involved? ANS: 225 basketball in 2006, 210 flag football in 2006 and 410 for basketball in 2007, over 100 in softball in 2007 and 325 in flag football in 2007
